Cut From the Culture | ER - Statement
Cut from the Culture is an act of preserving and sharing Hmong culture and stories through the lens of a Hmong person. My work is an inspired by my mother, my aunties, and my grandmothers who have carried on traditional sewing techniques which incorporate many of the motifs you see on my pieces.
I work with wood and acrylic using contemporary art forms to create my jewelry. All pieces are custom designed and laser cut with Hmong motifs that are found on textiles identifying one’s cultural group and telling stories of daily life. It is my joy to share the beauty of my culture with the world.
